Unemployment levels have decreased slightly in Galway in the past month.
There were 7,942 people on the Live Register in December 2025 - while that dropped to 7,773 in January 2026.
That's according to the latest CSO figures.
In Ballinasloe, 61 people left the Live Register, with 909 people on it last month, while a similar decrease of 62 was seen in Tuam, with a thousand people on the register there.
33 people left the Live Register in Gort, with 526 unemployed now - while 31 people left in the city, with 4,112 unemployed there in January.
Loughrea saw the lowest decrease in unemployment - ten people left the register, leaving the figure there at 745.
Meanwhile, Clifden was the only area in the county to see an increase in unemployment - with 28 added to the Live Register and the total there now 481.
