Up to 500 premises in Co Galway without power this morning

Up to 500 homes and businesses across County Galway are waking up without power this morning.

Around 200 premises are without power between Moycullen and Oughterard, while another 300 are without electricity in Gort and Loughrea, and surrounding areas.

It's after a night of heavy rain, hailstones and thunder and lightning in some areas.

Restoration times vary across the areas, and people are advised to log onto powercheck.ie to find out when power will be back.
