Nine vacant beds at Aras Mhic Dara Community Nursing Centre in An Cheathrú Rua are to be fully reopened.
Meanwhile Galway West TD John Connolly says funding has also been secured to reopen 7 extra community nursing beds at St Brendan’s home in Loughrea.
The Fianna Fáil TD said recruitment is currently underway to adequately staff the Aras Mhic Dara Community Nursing Centre.
He met with local HSE officials, who confirmed the funding has been secured for both moves.
Deputy Connolly says the beds will be reopened on a phases basis once staff is in place
