Victims of institutional abuse in Galway invited to come forward for support

Victims of institutional abuse in Galway have been invited to come forward for support.

Sage Advocacy - the National Advocacy Service for Older People - has issued the invite for survivors to engage with its information and support services.

People who spent time in reformatory schools, Magdalene laundries or Mother and Baby homes, are being encouraged to reach out.

Those who come forward will meet 1-on-1 with a trained advocate and action outside meetings will only be taken with the consent of survivors.

Speaking to our reporter James Varley, Sage Advocacy project manager Damian O'Farrell, says that the service plays a key role in helping survivors heal.
