Widespread discontent has been expressed over the state of footpaths across County Galway.
Issues were raised at a recent local council meeting regarding footpath maintenance in the likes of Gort, Kinvara, Loughrea and surrounding areas.
A heavy load of criticism was aimed at the funding shortfalls for Galway County Council, with councillors also arguing if we put a footpath in we should be maintaining them.
The local authority itself says if funding is available it will always prioritise paths in more populated areas, and the works also have to be technically feasible.
