Galway Bay fm newsroom - A young man has died following a crash near Eyrecourt.
The single-car incident happened on the R356 between Banagher and Eyrecourt shortly after midnight.
The 23 year old driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle, which struck a wall at Shannongrove on the Galway/Offaly border.
His body has been taken to Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe.

The R356 between Banagher and Eyrecourt remains closed this morning as Gardaí carry out a technical examination of the scene.
Diversions are in place through Clonfert.
