The University of Galway has marked 25 years of supporting under-represented students.

In the last five years it has more than doubled the number of students progressing to third-level education from this cohort.

Head of the access centre, Imelda Byrne says the university wants to remove barriers by implementing outreach programmes, scholarships and support services.
