It was a great weekend for the four Galway Basketball clubs in National League action, with all four winning their second round matches. In the Domino's Women's Division One, University of Galway Mystics maintained their perfect start to the season by beating Dublin Raiders in a comfortable 72-58 victory where they led by as much as 19 at one stage in the game. Mystics will be hoping to go 3-0 next week against Limerick Celtics. In the Men's Division One, Maigh Cuilinn and Titans maintained an undefeated status at the weekend, with Maigh Cuilinn beating Carrick Cruisers 96-80, led by a powerful performance from Grant Olsson and Aitor Perez, who combined for 53 points to give Maigh Cuilinn a 2-0 start to the season. Titans BC took the victory against Drogheda Wolves in one of the closest games in the division this weekend, winning 89-84 in Drogheda. In a game with ten lead changes, a 30-point game from Umar Rachid was enough to get Titans over the line and go 2-0. Maree defeated Dublin Lions in a topsy-turvy affair with the lead changing 8 times. Dublin Lions had an 8-point lead at one point, but as the game wore on, Maree really took control with Isaiah Taylor scoring 32 points and adding 9 rebounds too. ND Audit Portlaoise Panthers, Maigh Cuilinn, Titans BC, and Moy Tolka Rovers are the four teams remaining in Domino’s Men’s Division One that are undefeated, and all four teams will be hoping to go 3-0 next weekend.
