Following the tremendous success of last year's inaugural event, which saw more than 600 runners and walkers take to the roads of Glinsk, the Great Glinsk Run returns on Sunday, 19th July 2026, with an even bigger and better event planned.
The race begins at 11:30am, with registration open from 9:30am to 11:00am. The event Eircode is F45 PX24.
Participants can choose from four events:
- 10K Run
- 5K Run
- 5K Walk
- 2.5K Walk
This year, we are delighted to welcome Tribal Running, who will provide professional chip timing for all runners, ensuring accurate race results. Every participant will receive a commemorative Great Glinsk Run medal, and refreshments will be available after the event.
We are also honoured to welcome the wonderfully talented Aoife and Lisa O'Rourke as our special guests, and we look forward to giving them a very warm Glinsk welcome.
The event promises to be a fantastic family day out, with live music, plenty of craic, and a variety of food vendors serving delicious local produce.
The celebrations will continue afterwards in the Glencastle Lounge, where Bill Haugh will provide live music. The venue will also show both the All-Ireland Hurling Final and the FIFA World Cup Final on the big screens.
The Great Glinsk Run is much more than just a race. It is a vital fundraiser supporting the continued development of the Glinsk Community Centre campus, with all proceeds going directly towards ongoing community projects.
Funds raised over the past year have helped to:
- Purchase a community generator to provide emergency power for the crèche and community centre during power outages.
- Install a brand-new wastewater treatment facility.
- Open a modern 160-space community car park.
Work continues throughout 2026, with an exciting new astro sports pitch due to open before the end of the year.
