Galway United Sign Midfielder Lee Devitt from Treaty United

Galway United have today announced the signing of 25-year-old midfielder Lee Devitt from Treaty United. Devitt joins after playing a key role in Treaty United's playoff push last season and was rewarded for his efforts, being chosen in the PFAI First Division Team of the Year for 2025.

Devitt began his senior career in 2019 with Limerick FC before moving to Cobh Ramblers in 2020. He moved back to Limerick in 2019 to join Treaty United, where he became a crucial player for Tommy Barrett's side. The Newmarket-on-Fergus man played all 36 league games for Treaty last season as well as their three playoff games, including the last-minute defeat to Bray Wanderers in the final in November.

Despite being predominantly a central midfielder, he has also featured out wide and in an attacking midfield role. Upon signing for the Tribesmen, Devitt said, "It’s a really exciting project John is building here, and I can’t wait to be part of it and give my all for the club."

Manager John Caulfield said, "We’ve been watching Lee closely for the last couple of seasons, and he really exploded last year — it was a standout season for him. He’s been a massive player for Treaty, and when we heard he was looking for full-time football, we knew he was at the perfect stage in his career to make that step."

"Lee brings incredible energy and real quality. He’s versatile, he’s powerful, he’s athletic, and he’s got serious pace. On top of that, he scored a huge amount of goals last season. His style fits exactly into the profile we’re building, and I’m absolutely delighted to bring him in.”

This marks Galway's third signing of the off-season, with Wasiri Williams and Kris Twardek already signed for 2026.
