For the past number of weeks, players, coaches and parents have been working on their moves, practising their singing and making sure that all their outfits are ready for the Galway Corinthians RFC Lip Sync Legends event that will take place in the Galmont Hotel on Sunday night next.
It plans to be an incredible night with the performers all working tirelessly to put on a show that will be remembered for a very long time.
The idea behind the show is a fundraising one with the funds going towards further development at the club. In recent years, the club has seen an increase in young players and with that, the demand on facilities has also increased.
The plan is to use the money raised to develop those facilities making Corinthians a club to be proud of.
This is also the club’s first major fundraiser in three years, and the committee of John Fox, John Noone, Damian Cregan, Sinead Burke, Bernie Huxford, Maggie Newell, Cian Begley, Gerry O’Neill and Grace Carpenter have been working non-stop since last February to make it a success with the launch taking place on the 15th of March last.
The acts, of whom there will be 14, will feature over 80 performers and each of them have been raising money for the event through iDonate pages.
Of course, a show cannot go ahead without event organisers and this year’s Lip Sync Legends are being run in association with Fundraising Events Group, a group with a long-standing record of excellent Lip Sync Shows.
Speaking ahead of the event, Galway Corinthians RFC President Fergal Leonard said “The Lip Sync committee have worked tirelessly to put on a Club event that everyone can be very proud of. Events like Sunday night are vital in helping us continue to grow and develop.
“This will be our first Club fundraiser in three years, and we are very excited for it, as it is also the very first of its kind for our Club. The Funds raised will go directly towards improving our facilities, supporting player development, and ensuring that rugby remains accessible and enjoyable for all who wish to be part of our club.
“We are ambitious for the future, and we want to improve what we currently offer our players, coaches and members.”
Fergal also pointed to the hard work of the committee who have put in countless hours in making sure that this event is a success. “I need to thank the Lip Sync Committee without who this event was not possible. There are not too many of them to mention, so please be aware that (in no particular order) John Fox, John “Stac” Noone, Damian “Tank” Crehan, Sinead Burke, Bernie Huxford, Maggie Newell, Cian Begley, Gerry O’Neill and our very own Grace Carpenter have worked tirelessly on this event. Thank you all very much.”
