Black Dragon's Oisin Concannon crowned IKF K-1 Champion Of Ireland

Oisín Concannon of Black Dragon Kickboxing Club was crowned IKF Bantamweight K-1 champion of Ireland on Saturday night in the beautiful surroundings of the Ardilaun Hotel in Galway City.

The Barna Bomber weathered the storm in the first round as his Wicklow opponent came at him looking for an early finish.

Concannon composed himself in the second round and started to unleash some good strikes of his own in what was an over-and-back affair.

The third round saw the Barna man really start to come into his own, but the last two rounds were a K-1 clinic as Oisin completely changed tactics and put on a dazzling display of footwork, making his opponent miss and returning with precision, sniper like attacks of his own, all of which landed on target.

At the final bell, the packed house erupted when his hand was raised and he was awarded a unanimous decision.

His teammate, Faith Foley from Annaghdown, was electrifying and sent the fight fans into a frenzy with a power-packed display that saw her Wicklow opponent Leah Wynne visit the canvas at the start of the first round.

The fight resumed, and the brave Wicklow lass fired back but was overwhelmed with precision kicks & punches to the head and after 59 seconds, the referee stepped in and stopped the fight to avoid further punishment.
