A FOCUS ON THE ACTION
It was a captivating tie with Leinster up against Connacht.
Connacht got off the mark inside 8 minutes with a beautiful team goal as Jack SWEENEY (Merlin College, Galway) slotted home brilliantly following a Ross Duane Dalton cross.
Leinster could have been all square three minutes later but Jimmy Walshe (Marist College, Athlone) got down well to deny Conor Whittaker (Rice College, Westport) with a fabulous double save.
With just over quarter of an hour played, Leinster did find the equaliser when Peter BYRNE (Kildare Town CS) rattled off a strike superbly following a lovely through ball from Luca Kelly (St. David’s Holy Family SS, Greystones).
Connacht regained the lead 21 minutes in as Oisín Choo (Sligo Grammar School) found Ross RUANE DALTON who made no mistake with a deadly finish.
It was 2-1 at the break to Connacht.
There was some staunch defending by both teams in the second period as the scoreline remained the same. Connacht bravely seeing the game out to clinch a valuable victory.

It was defending Champions Connacht up against 2022 and 2023 title holders Munster.
With 13 minutes on the clock, Rory McKEON (St. Anne’s CC, Killaloe) got Munster off the mark when he managed to score from the ground as the ball ricocheted off the post and in.
Connacht were unlucky not to equalise soon after as Jack Sweeney’s pacy attack looked promising however his strike bounced off a defender and onto the crossbar!
Donnacha DUNGIVAN (St. Colman’s College, Fermoy) doubled the Munster tally on 21 minutes with a smashing finish.
Munster led 2-0 at the break.
Unfortunately, there was little hope of a Connacht resurgence when Munster went three up, three minutes into the restart, a stunning goal from Jack GARRETT (The Abbey School, Tipperary Town).
With 18 minutes remaining Munster netminder Igor Bacela (Waterpark College, Waterford) received his marching orders following a high tackle on an onrushing Connacht player just outside the box. Charlie Campbell was sacrificed to see sub keeper Shane Hallihan (St. Colman’s College, Fermoy) introduced.
Two minutes later, Connacht starlet Lúc GRIALLAIS (Coláiste an Eachréídh, Athenry) netted to make it 1-3.
Despite Connacht’s best efforts, Munster’s sharp attacking style worked and they saw out a hard fought victory.
