Details Of The 39th Streets Of Galway 8K Are Announced

Galway City Harriers Athletics Club, in association with Blackrock Health Galway Clinic, have announced details of the 39th edition of the annual Streets of Galway 8k Road Race.

The already sold out 8km race route passes many of the city’s most famous landmarks starting at GTI on Father Griffin Road through the historical City Centre, passing Wolfe Tone Bridge, Merchants Road, Eyre Square, crossing the River Corrib at The Cathedral, passing the University of Galway and Hospital before the 3,500 entrants race toward Salthill via Dr Mannix Road.

The athletes will enter The Promenade at Leisureland before a fast finish along Gratton Road and South Park onto the finish at Nimmo’s Pier, where GCH hospitality and after race refreshments await.

The event will be organised by our expert crew of volunteer helpers and marshals.

Among the 3,500 race entrants are 3 athletes completing the race for the 39th time.

Age category prizes are available and there is a beautiful souvenir Streets of Galway Hi-Tech T-shirt for all online entrants.

Race HQ is at the Claddagh Hall, Nimmo’s Pier, Galway (H91 A6Y6).

The race starts promptly at 7pm on Saturday, 9th August 2025.
