Dunmore McHales have paid tribute in a statement on their Facebook page that reads...

"It is with profound sadness that Dunmore MacHales GAA Club has learned of the sudden passing of our former player, manager, treasurer and lifelong club stalwart, John Coleman.

John proudly represented Galway at Under 16, Minor, Under 21 and Senior level, and was a valued member of the Galway team that captured the All-Ireland Junior Championship in 1985.

With Dunmore MacHales, John played a pivotal role in some of the club's greatest achievements, winning the Galway Senior Football Championship in 1983 and the Intermediate Championship in 1993. His dedication to the club extended far beyond the playing field, serving as Senior Team Manager and Club Treasurer during the mid-1980s.

John's final match as a supporter was to witness his beloved MacHales gain promotion to Division One after yesterday's impressive win over Mountbellew/Moylough.

Through his career with AIB Bank, John moved to Letterkenny where he became actively involved with St. Eunan's GAA Club. Despite living away from home, he never lost his deep affection for Dunmore, Galway or the Maroon & White. Recent Galway v Donegal encounters were a reminder of John's unwavering passion for his native county.

John's contribution to our club and to Gaelic football will never be forgotten. He will be remembered with immense respect, gratitude and affection by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

To his beloved wife Catherine, his children Michael, Mark and Sinéad, the Coleman and Walsh families, and his many friends, we extend our deepest and most heartfelt sympathies at this difficult time.
