The AIB Camogie Club Championship Team of the Year 2025/26 will be honoured at the AIB GAA Club Player Awards at Croke Park on Friday, March 13th, where the Player of the Year will also be announced.
The Camogie Association and AIB are thrilled to announce the AIB Camogie Club Championship Team of the Year, following a captivating season that showcased exceptional individual and team performances. Since 2013, AIB has proudly sponsored the Camogie Club Championships, exemplifying its unwavering support for both club players and the communities that nurture them, enabling their remarkable achievements on the pitch. The players will be honoured at the AIB Club Player Awards, marking the second time that the four codes of – Camogie, Ladies Football, Hurling, and Football – are celebrated together. The AIB Camogie Club Player of the Year award winner will also be revealed at the ceremony on Friday, March 13th in Croke Park.
Champions Athenry led the way with eight representatives on the 2025/2026 AIB All-Ireland Camogie Club Championship Team of the Year.
The Galway outfit needed a replay to secure the AIB All-Ireland Senior Club Championship title in January, with victory over St Finbarr’s of Cork at FBD Semple Stadium. The two sides could not be separated on the first time of asking, in a dramatic draw at Croke Park.
Laura Freeney, Dervla Higgins, Lisa Casserly, Olwen Rabbitte, Sinéad Feeney, Kerri O’Driscoll, Therese Donohue and Clodagh Burke are all included for the winners.
‘The Barrs’ enjoyed a stellar campaign, claiming a first ever Munster title en route to the final. Their exploits have been acknowledged with five places on this selection - Stephanie Punch, Aisling Egan, Keeva McCarthy, Sorcha McCartan and Orlaith Cahalane.
The Lee-side representatives needed extra-extra-time to overcome Antrim’s Loughgiel Shamrocks in the last four, and the Ulster champions are represented by Amy Boyle and Róisín McCormick.
Athenry also have two nominees for the prestigious individual award, AIB Camogie Club Championship Player of the Year – Lisa Casserly and Therese Donohue.
The third nominee is St Finbarr’s and Cork star Sorcha McCartan, who hit an impressive six points in both finals against Athenry.
AIB has also established the first-ever 'Moments of the Championship' award this year, recognising unforgettable instances across the LGFA, Camogie, and GAA Club Championships, which will be presented at the ceremony. The nominees for this new award are: Muckalee LGFA, who remarkably triumphed against the odds to win the AIB LGFA Leinster Junior Championship, before going on to land the AIB All-Ireland Junior title; Katie Rogers of Knockbride LGFA, whose inspiring personal goal 'To Play in Croke Park' from her list of things to do before turning 30 became a reality; and Ballymacelligot GAA, who demonstrated exceptional sportsmanship by forming a guard of honour for their West Kerry neighbours, An Ghaeltacht, as they ran onto Croke Park ahead of the AIB GAA All-Ireland Intermediate Final.
Commenting on the announcement, Uachtarán an Chumainn Camógaíochta Brian Molloy said: “The 2025/2026 AIB All-Ireland Camogie Club Championship Team of the Year is a fitting recognition of the exceptional standard we witnessed throughout this year’s club campaign. The performances delivered by the players honoured, particularly across two gripping All-Ireland finals and a dramatic semi-final series, showcased the very best of our game in terms of skill, resilience and athleticism. Comhghairdeas libh uilig.
“I would also like to sincerely thank AIB for their continued support of Camogie and for their unwavering commitment to championing female sport. This partnership plays a vital role in elevating our club competitions and ensuring that our players receive the recognition they so richly deserve.”
AIB Chief Customer Officer, Orlaith Ryan said: “The AIB Camogie Club Championship has delivered a memorable season showcasing the highest calibre of play and dedication. The joy and commitment displayed by these athletes have generated so many unforgettable moments of the championship. From Athenry's triumphs to the formidable challenge posed by St Finbarrs, these inspiring journeys perfectly illustrate the vibrant club camogie scene and the invaluable support systems within their communities.
