Eir Ambassador & Galway All-Star, Conor Whelan, supports eir's sponsorship launch of 2026 GAA Hurling All-Ireland Senior Championship

eir, Ireland’s largest telecommunications provider and proud partner of the GAA since 2011, has today launched its sponsorship of the 2026 GAA Hurling All-Ireland Senior Championship. Recognised as having Ireland’s No.1 5G network coverage and availability by Opensignal, eir continues to connect supporters, players and communities across the country as Championship action gets underway.

Celebrating both the beginning of another season and a major milestone in eir’s network evolution, elite players Darragh Fitzgibbon (Cork), Darragh McCarthy (Tipperary), and Conor Whelan (Galway), joined Managing Director of Consumer and Small Business at eir, Kealan Donoghue, and Uachtarán Chumann Lúthchleas Gael, Jarlath Burns, at GAA HQ today.

Now delivering 5G to 99% of Ireland’s population, eir was the first operator to bring 5G to Croke Park and continues to elevate the matchday experience for fans and players alike. The latest Opensignal award highlights the ongoing investment and innovation behind eir’s mobile network.

Demonstrating its support for participation and inclusion at every level, eir is also the official sponsor of the U16 Camogie All-Ireland Championship, supporting pathways for young female athletes and helping inspire future generations of camogie players across Ireland. Additionally, eir is a long-standing supporter of Special Olympics Ireland, promoting opportunity and participation for all under its eir for all platform.

As well as eir’s continued support for this year’s Championship, they will also launch the fourth year of their Poc Tapa Challenge; a competition open to every GAA club in the country that sees the fastest team win €5,000 for their club and a chance to play at Croke Park on semi-final day.

Commenting on the launch of this year’s Championship, Managing Director of Consumer and Small Business at eir, Kealan Donoghue, said: “Now in our fourth year as sponsors of the Senior Hurling Championship, I’m very proud of this relationship. Just as GAA reaches every corner of the country, so too does our 5G network with 99% population coverage, making this a natural partnership focused on connecting communities on and off the pitch.”

Speaking about the upcoming GAA All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, sponsored by eir, GAA President, Jarlath Burns, said: “The All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship is one of Ireland’s greatest sporting traditions. eir has been a proud and committed partner of the GAA for many years, and its continued support of the Championship helps bring the excitement of hurling to supporters everywhere as another great season gets underway.”
