Galway were crowned Connacht Senior Ladies Football Champions on Sunday afternoon after a 1-11 to 0-11 victory over rivals Mayo at Páirc Sean MacDiarmuida in Carrick on Shannon.
Galway led by 0-9 to 0-3 at half time, with the crucial score coming just after the restart when a Mayo defender turned the ball into the back of her own net. The Tribeswomen came under pressure in the latter stages of the game, but held on to advance to the All-Ireland stages as Connacht Champions.
