Galway footballers earned their first points of this year's National Football League Division One as a last-gasp Rob Finnerty free after the hooter saw Padraig Joyce’s side win away to Armagh by 3-12 to 0-20.
A crowd of over 7,500 saw Galway lead 2-5 to 0-10 at half-time, with Kieran Molloy and Rob Finnerty with the goals, the latter a long-range free that deceived Armagh goalie Blaine Hughes.
The home side re-established their control in the second half, only for a third Galway goal six minutes from time to swing momentum again, and when Galway sub Shane McGrath was impeded from taking a solo-and-go free in the dying seconds, referee Barry Cassidy brought the ball into the 13-metre line for Rob Finnerty to tap over the winner.
Afterwards, Galway Bay FM's Jonathan Higgins suggested to Galway senior manager Padraic Joyce that the game had everything.
Galway defender Jack Glynn was also asked by Jonathan what was the game like to play in.
Galway Bay FM's match commentary team were Jonathan Higgins and Gareth Bradshaw
Galway's next game is away to Kerry on Saturday, 14th February. Throw-in at Austin Stack Park, Tralee is 5 pm.
