World Championships – Galway Athletes
Galway City Harriers athlete Cillin Greene is all set for the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, which start this weekend, from the 13th September to the 21st .
Greene features along with Sharlene Mawdsley in the Mixed Relay 4x400m squad, and alongside Jack Raftery, Conor Kelly, Sophie Becker and Rachel McCann
The GCH athlete has previously medalled with the Mixed Relay squad at the World Relays and is a proven international competitor
Another Galway athlete who will race is Michelle Duggan, formerly of Craughwell AC (now UCD), who competes as part of the Women's 4x400m squad along with the aforementioned Mawdsley, Becker, McCann, and Cliodhna Manning. Duggan has excelled this season under coach Adam McMullen and has been in strong form ahead of the Worlds.

Craughwell AC organised both a 10 Mile and 10k event last Sunday
John Dolan was first home for GCH in the 10 mile running 57.26, with Jane Ann Meehan first lady in 64.03. In the 10k, Damien Carter won well in 34.40, with Catherine Thornton first lady home in 38.19
Fixtures
The Galway Primary Schools Cross Country Championships take place on 30th September and 7th October next. Open at all third to sixth class pupils, the first day is semi-final day and this year it will take place in Galway Racecourse, with the finals in Renmore as usual
Entry is via Schools and entry forms have been issued to all schools
Castlegar AC hosts the Galway Senior and Masters Championships on September 20th in Galway Racecourse, with entry still on Eventmaster
