Galway Athletics Report - Sean Doggett Wins Gold

National Senior Indoor Championships

Galway athletes saw great success at the 123.ie National Indoor Athletics Championships, held at the Sport Ireland National Indoor Arena in Dublin over the weekend, with a superb gold medal win for Sean Doggett the highlight.

Sean Doggett from Athenry AC claimed his first National Senior 400m title at the National Indoor Arena on Sunday, taking gold in a super time of 47.33 seconds. In what was a battle to the line, Sean produced a thrilling come-from-behind performance to secure victory in a high-quality field. It was an exciting finish, with Fintan Dewhirst (Tír Chonaill) fighting hard all the way but just falling short in the closing metres.

This victory marked Doggett's first National Senior title and further adds to what has already been a remarkable career and a testament to his dedication, consistency, and hard work both on and off the track, alongside coach Stephen Doggett. Also, in the 400m final, Ben Edeh of West Coast AC was a fine fourth. There was further success for the Athenry club on the day, with Rian Collins securing a superb third-place finish in the Men’s 3000m C Final
