International races
Emma Moore (Galway City Harriers) made a great debut at the highest level as a senior competing at the World Indoor Tour Gold event in Ostrava on Tuesday placing 6th in an international class field in 2.02.21. Last week, she clocked an Irish U23 indoor 800m record, clocking 2:01.21 in Dublin, taking her to third on the Irish senior indoor all-time list for the event, and importantly securing an Athletics Ireland World Indoor Championship 'B' Standard, putting her in the mix for consideration for the Worlds in Poland in March.
Schools Cross Country
David Frazer of Craughwell AC competes for Ireland at the Home Countries and Celtic Cross Country Championships on Saturday next February 7th at Parliament Hill in London has been honoured with selection on the Boys U17 Ireland Team, along with Darragh Whelan of Limerick, Ruby Devereaux of Youghal and Thomas Coy of North Belfast.
The Connacht Schools Cross Country was held Tuesday of this week in Bushfield , Loughrea with the winners as follows – Minor Girls Leah Mcmanus , Sligo Grammar ; Minor Boys – Dylan Leydon , Coola ; Junior Girls – Roxane Sands , St Josephs Castlebar ; Junior Boys – Patrick Lee, Pres Athenry ; Inter Girls – Freya Renton, SHS Westport ; Inter Boys -Greg Lyons, Manorhamilton ; Senior Girls – Emma Brennan , Moyne CS and Senior Boys – Lucas Lyons, Manorhamilton. St Brigid’s Loughrea won team gold in the Senior Girls event in an impressive display

National Indoor League
Five Galway teams compete at Round 2 of the National Indoor Track and Field League this weekend in Athlone, with qualification for the final on 14th February next at stake. . Craughwell Ladies lie 11th overall, just ahead of South Galway Ladies in 13th place, with the top 8 to go through, Craughwell Mens team lie fourth, while Galway City Harriers Mens squad are in seventh, while South Galway AC were 15th after round 1, and again the top 8 teams get through.

The Galway Women’s Mini Marathon was held Bank Holiday Monday 2nd of February in Craughwell, with a huge field of 800 athletes on the start line First home was Evelyn Coughlan of Tullamore Harriers in a time of 37.26 , with Jane Ann Meehan of Athenry AC next in 39.20 ,and Ellen Bermingham third in 39.59
