Galway United are now eight games without a win in the SSE Airtricity League Men's Premier Division, and just one point ahead of the relegation play-off position following this defeat to Derry City in Eamonn Deacy Park on Friday (22nd August 2025).

Jimmy Keohane got United's first league goal in three games to put them ahead on 17 minutes, but they found themselves level at half-time following Dip Akenyemi's equaliser just before the break.  And even though the visitors went down to 10 men following Jamie Stott's second yellow card, Adam O'Reilly struck the winner for the Candystripes on 93 minutes.

Galway United manager John Caulfield gave his reaction to Galway Bay FM's Mike Rafferty afterwards.
