Even though they conceded another late goal, Galway United held on in a thriller at Eamonn Deacy Park on Monday (16th March 2026) to beat bottom side Waterford in the SSE Airtricity League Men's Premier Division.
Kris Twardek put the hosts ahead on 10 minutes, but two goals in a three minute spell for Waterford overturned the deficit before David Hurley's penalty in injury time left it 2-2 at half-time. Twardek put United back ahead before Frantz Pierrot got his opening Galway United goal in the 90th minute. The visitors still had time to get a third goal, but the Tribesmen held on to move four points clear of the relegation places.
Afterwards, Galway United striker Frantz Pierrot spoke to Galway Bay FM's Jonathan Higgins.
Jonathan also caught up with Galway United manager John Caulfield.
Galway Bay FM's match commentary team were Jonathan Higgins and Gerry Murphy.
Galway United's next game is away to Shamrock Rovers on Friday (20th March). Kick-off at Tallaght Stadium is 8pm.
