“I was just hoping to go as fast as I could and ended up finishing second. I can’t believe it! I’ve knocked a minute off my ‘half’ PB, so it’s given me huge confidence for the marathon,” Brannigan said. “It was a fantastic race and the atmosphere in Phoenix Park is always electric.”
In the men’s race, Clare’s Jake O’Regan (St John’s AC, Kilkee), now living in Galway, won in 1:07:18, with Gavin Curtin (Donore Harriers) second in 1:08:33 and David Glynn (Swords) third in 1:09:47. Dublin’s Fiona Stack took third in the women’s race in 1:21:30.
