Interview with Offaly Hurling Captain Charlie Mitchell

Offaly hurling captain Charlie Mitchell missed the entire National League Campaign after being diagnosed with Myocarditis early in the year, which is inflammation of the heart muscle. However, the Kilcormac-Killoughey man stole the headlines last Saturday when he started and scored 1-3 in a man of the match performance against Dublin in the opening round of the Leinster Championship. His return to the pitch was brilliant to see, on an evening when Offaly gave a glimpse of their potential, forcing Dublin to eke out a draw with a late Donal Burke equaliser. Charlie, who played Fitzgibbon for University of Galway, also led the Faithful County to a Leinster Under-20 title in 2023. Charlie spoke to Sean Walsh ahead of Offaly’s clash with Galway in Pearse Stadium and began by discussing his recent health issues...
