Offaly hurling captain Charlie Mitchell missed the entire National League Campaign after being diagnosed with Myocarditis early in the year, which is inflammation of the heart muscle. However, the Kilcormac-Killoughey man stole the headlines last Saturday when he started and scored 1-3 in a man of the match performance against Dublin in the opening round of the Leinster Championship. His return to the pitch was brilliant to see, on an evening when Offaly gave a glimpse of their potential, forcing Dublin to eke out a draw with a late Donal Burke equaliser. Charlie, who played Fitzgibbon for University of Galway, also led the Faithful County to a Leinster Under-20 title in 2023.
