Mixed Bag for Maree in Men's Basketball Division 1 With One Win But Defeat to Maigh Cuilinn in Galway Derby

Maree had two games in the Domino’s Men’s Division One this weekend, and they delivered a mixed bag with one win and one loss.

On Saturday (28th February), Maree saw defeat to Maigh Cuilinn in an 84-77 loss. Isaiah Taylor had his fourth 40+ point game of the season on Saturday, scoring 43 against Maigh Cuilinn.

Grant Olsson had 31 points for Maigh Cuilinn in the win as they move up to tenth in the table, one win away from Moy Tolka Rovers in seventh.

Maree then regained some momentum with an 80-72 triumph over ND Audit Portlaoise Panthers on Sunday (1st March). It was Rinor Dragusha who pushed Maree to victory on Sunday, with a 23-point, eight-rebound performance.

Amiri Stewart and Xabier Arriaga combined for 58 points for the Panthers, with Stewart scoring 38 by himself. The defeat for the Panthers sees them fall to 11-9 for the season as the race for the final playoff spot goes down to the final two rounds of the regular season.

One victory and one defeat for Maree means they enter the top four at 14-6, with SPK Utility Trust Lakers level with Maree in the battle for fourth, however, Maree hold the head to head advantage.
