Opening Round Fixtures for County Senior and Intermediate Hurling Championships Confirmed

The opening fixtures for this year’s Forvis Mazars Senior and Senior B hurling championships, and the Steeltech Sheds Intermediate Hurling Championship, senior, have been confirmed.

County senior champions Loughrea begin against Kilconieron on Friday week (8th August) in Duggan Park at 7.15pm.  At the same time, Gort take on St. Thomas in Kilbeacanty; and Sarsfields meet Oranmore-Maree in Kenny Park.

Saturday’s senior action sees Cappataggle take on Tommy Larkins in Duggan Park at 5pm; Ardrahan against Castlegar is the first game in Kenny Park at the same time, before Turloughmore clash with Clarinbridge at 6.45pm; Craughwell and Killimordaly lock horns in Loughrea at 2.30pm; while it’s Moycullen against Athenry at 4.15pm in Pearse Stadium.

All four games in Senior B are on Saturday week, starting with Ballinderreen battling Liam Mellows in Pearse Stadium at 2.30pm.

Padraig Pearses meet Mullagh in Loughrea at 4pm; Tynagh/Abbey-Duniry go up against Kilnadeema/Leitrim in Gort at 4.30pm; while Ahascragh/Fohenagh are against Portumna in Duggan Park from 6.45pm.

There are three intermediate championship contests on Saturday week, with a double header in Tuam Stadium.

Skehana/Mountbellew-Moylough and Sylane throw in at 3pm, followed by Annaghdown against Kinvara at 4.45pm.  Kilbeacanty battle Beagh in Gort at 3pm.

Duggan Park hosts a double header on Sunday, 10th August, starting with Ballygar’s clash with Clarinbridge at 11.30am, while Craughwell collide with Abbeyknockmoy from 1.15pm.

The other three games are at 12pm.  Athenry meet Meelick/Eyrecourt in New Inn; Carnmore and Killimor face off in Loughrea; while Turloughmore take on Rahoon/Newcastle in Kenny Park.
