Ray Larkin to stay on as Mayo Senior Hurling Manager

Mayo GAA is delighted to announce that following a review, Ray Larkin has confirmed he is committing to another year as manager of the Mayo senior hurling team. The Galway native has led the Mayo hurlers to back-to-back Nicky Rackard All-Ireland Hurling Finals in 2024 and 2025.  The Kilnadeema/Leitrim clubman has won six county senior hurling finals and four Connacht Intermediate hurling titles as a coach and manager.  Larkin also led Tooreen hurling club to the AIB GAA All-Ireland Intermediate hurling final in 2023.

Mayo GAA Chairperson Seamus Tuohy said he is delighted that Ray is staying on for another year.  “This is great news for Mayo hurling.  Ray has the full support of the county board and all the hurling clubs in the county.  There is a lot of interest and support for hurling in Mayo at present, and the emergence of several new adult hurling clubs in recent years augurs well for the future,” commented Seamus Tuohy.

Mayo GAA Hurling committee chairperson Sean Ó Raghallaigh said tremendous work is taking place in the clubs and in the county to promote hurling at present.  “Our senior hurling team is the flagship for all our club players, and Ray’s decision to stay on for another year is wonderful news.  We now have twelve adult hurling teams in the county and all these players will get an opportunity to make the grade at senior intercounty level,” commented Sean Ó Raghallaigh.

Larkin’s backroom team this year included former Galway senior hurler Nigel Shaughnessy, former Sligo GAA senior hurling manager Pádraig Mannion, John Duggan and Shane Meehan
