A runner-up finish at last weekend’s Connacht Men’s Open Stroke Play Championship has propelled David Reddan back into the top ten of this season’s Bridgestone Men’s Order of Merit.
The Castleknock golfer has earned ranking points in each of his five championship appearances this year, with his biggest haul coming at Bearna Golf Club, where he finished just one shot behind champion Cian O’Connor (Roscommon).
Reddan collected 150 points for his performance, nearly doubling his total from 157 to 307 which has seen him climb 14 spots up the leaderboard into seventh position overall.
Another notable mover on the Men’s Order of Merit this week is TJ Ford. The County Sligo member was another of the top performers at the Connacht Stroke Play, finishing in a tie for third.
Having already picked up 100 points for his fourth-place finish at the Munster Men’s Stroke Play Championship, Ford collected another 110 to move from T33 to T15 on the leaderboard.
David Kitt remains the best placed Galway player in the Bridgestone Order of Merit following the release of the latest standings.
The Athenry golfer is 16th following the Connacht Stroke Play last weekend in Galway. Other Galway golfers in the top 75 are Luke O’Neill of Connemara in 46th and John Coleman of Galway Bay Golf Resort in 58th.
Following the action at Bearna, the Men’s tour takes a short break before resuming on 23 July with the South of Ireland Amateur Open Championship at Lahinch Golf Club where Stuart Grehan (Co Louth) will tee it up as the current Order of Merit leader.
On the Women’s side, the next event will take place in 11 days’ time as one of the biggest competitions on the calendar, the Flogas Irish Women’s Amateur Open Championship, gets underway at Headfort Golf Club from 21-23 June.
Current Women’s Bridgestone Order of Merit leader Aideen Walsh (Lahinch) will take to the Meath course holding a narrow 20-point advantage over her nearest rivals Clodagh Coughlan (Douglas), Katie Poots (Knock) and Olivia Costello (Roscommon) while the rest of the top 15 are all within 90 points of top spot.
