The Galway Hurlers were defeated by Tipperary in Round 1 of the National Hurling League on Saturday evening in Semple Stadium.
The sides were tied at nine points apiece, and an early second-half goal by Oranmore/Maree's Rory Burke put Micheal Donoghue's side right in contention. The sides were level when Darragh Stakelum hit the net six minutes from time to put the Premier County a goal up, and they pulled away in the final minutes, running out five-point winners.
