The North Western region which covers Galway has been allocated the lowest number of new Garda recruits
Just 21 of the 154 new Gardaí sworn in today will be posted to the North Western Region
The southern region will get 66 new Gardaí, 45 have been allocated to the Dublin region, 22 will be stationed in the Eastern region and the Western Region will get the lowest number at 21.
14 nations are represented among the new cohort coming from Australia, Belarus, Brazil, England, Germany, Kazakhstan, Nigeria, Northern Ireland, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Romania and the United States.

A further 369 recruits are currently in training and the next 200 trainees will enter the Garda College in Templemore on Monday.
