Galway West by-election candidate Míde Nic Fhionnlaoich is calling for further Government investment for our islands.
The Social Democrats candidate has been speaking following a visit to Aran Islands over the weekend.
She made the point that tourism is now the main economic driver on islands such as Inis Mór, due to the decline of activities such as fishing and agriculture.
Míde Nic Fhionnlaoich, who is representing the Social Democrats in the upcoming by-election, is calling for better investment in infrastructure and services.
She highlighted issues such as wastewater treatment, a lack of regulation of Airbnb and the impact of fishing quotas in particular.
