3,500 primary pupils in Galway cannot access gaelscoil

Over 3,500 primary school children across Galway have no access to a gaelscoil for their education.

That's according to An Foras Pátrúnachta, the largest patron of gaelscoileanna, based on the latest survey data from the Department of Education.

It says while the results themselves show considerable unmet demand, the real figure is likely significantly higher.

Speaking to Galway Talks, General Secretary Caoimhín Ó hEaghra said there's a disconnect between what the Department is saying, and what it's doing.
