5 swimming spots in City and County to receive funding for key infrastructure projects

5 swimming spots in Galway County and City will recieve 50 thousand euros in funding for key infrastructure projects.

Galway City Council and Galway County council received €25,000 each for modifications and equipment purchase.

Long point beach, Loughrea, Lough Derg Recreation park in Portumna, and Trá an Dóilin, An Cheathrú Rua will each install a hoist, showers and shelters.

In Galway City, the money will go towards the purchase of beach wheelchairs and storage at Salthill and Silverstrand.

Nationally, €400,000 has been allocated to projects in 17 local authorities under the Healthy Ireland Outdoor Swimming Initiative.
