500 families on housing waiting lists in Ballinasloe area

Galway Bay fm newsroom - There are almost 500 families on housing waiting lists in the Ballinasloe area.

A new report presented to councillors at a meeting of Ballinasloe Municipal District showed 485 families on the list with another 285 in reciept of the Housing Assistance Payment, HAP.

Local cllr Dermot Connolly says a lack of planned new housing units in the area, along with a shortage of resources to maintain current housing stock has created an urgent public need.
