Almost 15 hundred Galway employees close PUP claim to return to work

Galway Bay fm newsroom - Almost 15 hundred employees in Galway closed their pandemic unemployment payment this week to return to work, as Level 5 restrictions are lifted.

In the past seven days, over 28 thousand people closed their PUP claim nationwide, with over 25 thousand stating they were doing so to return to work.

The top sectors returning to employment this week are wholesale and retail trade, hairdressers and beauty salons and accommodation and food services.

Dublin had the greatest number of people closing their claims at 6,441, followed by Cork with 3,265, and Galway with 1,458.
