A full survey of bins in Galway city is to be carried out by the City Council.

A litter management plan will be presented to city councillors at the next meeting, and as part of that, a GPS survey and audit of bins will be completed.

It will examine what areas may need more or less bins, and the council says that until then, no changes will be made.

Concerns have been raised recently in relation to litter, following the influx of people using parks and beaches due to the hot weather.
