Since January, almost 40 thousand workers across Galway were auto-enrolled into the Government's pension scheme, 'My Future Fund'.
Employees are automatically enrolled if they earn more than €20,000 per year, are aged between 23 and 60, and are not paying into a payroll pension.
Nationally, 763 thousand have been enrolled since the start of the year, with about 38,500 listed in Galway.
My Future Fund was set up as Ireland faces a growing older population, and a significant number of workers have no pension arrangements for their retirement.
