The Mayor of Galway, Helen Ogbu, has opened a Book of Condolence for former Galway footballer Paul Clancy.

Mayor Ogbu said on behalf of the people of Galway City she wished to extend her deepest sympathies to Paul's family, particularly his wife Johanna, and children, Finn and Ellen.

49-year-old Paul Clancy was a two-time All-Ireland senior football champion with Galway, winning titles in 1998 and 2001.

At club level, he played a key role as Maigh Cuilinn secured the All-Ireland Intermediate title in 2008.
