An appeal's been lodged with An Coimisiún Pleanála over the refusal of permission for a new casino at Wellpark Retail Park.
Silverworth Limited had sought permission for a change of use of an existing retail unit fronting onto the Dublin Road.
There had been a number of local objections, particularly around the proximity to a nearby secondary school and residential areas.
City planners refused permission, holding that it would not be in character with the area and established retail use.

The developer has now taken an appeal to the higher planning authority with a decision expected later this year.
