An appeal against the transformation of a former bar in Ballybane into student accommodation has failed.
The plan would see the former Lantern demolished and replaced with a four storey building with 32 bed spaces.
Residents had raised a number of objections, including overshadowing of nearby properties and a total lack of parking spaces.
After considering an appeal against approval by City Council planners, An Coimisiún Pleanála has now ruled the project can go ahead, with some minor revisions.
They include that the development is strictly student accommodation only, and the rooftop terrace can only be accessed between 8am and 8pm.
