An appeal's been lodged with An Coimisiún Pleanála over the approval of plans to replace a vacant pub in Ballybane with a student block.
Last month, city planners gave the go-ahead for the former Lantern to be demolished, and replaced with a four storey building with 31 bed spaces.
But local residents - who had previously objected to the plans - have now taken an appeal to An Coimisiún Pleanála.
Among their arguments are overshadowing of their properties, and the block not offering any parking space - something they say is highly "unrealistic".
A decision will be made later this year.
