Approval has been granted for a new Applegreen motorway plaza in Ballinasloe.
It's described as an electric vehicle hub & service station, on a site just off Junction 15.
There's an existing small Applegreen station on the R446 heading into Ballinasloe, and this will be decommissioned and most elements demolished.
Its nearby replacement off Garbally roundabout would be a full service station comparable to the other motorway offerings.
It'll include a shop with off license, two restaurants, coffee dock, car wash and toilets, as well as a drive-thru, outdoor picnic space, play spaces and driver exercise area.
A core part of the plans is a new electric vehicle charging hub for 36 vehicles, as well as 4 spaces for electric heavy goods vehicles.
There'll be a new vehicle entrance off Garbally roundabout, and also included in the project is a dedicated active travel route along the northern boundary of the site.
County planners have approved the project with 15 routine conditions attached.
