The new Students Union President at the University of Galway takes office from today
Seán de Búrca, a graduate from Loughrea, will represent over 20,000 students following his successful election as president earlier this year.
Also taking office today are Vice President and Welfare and Equality Officer Eimear Burke, and Vice President for the Irish language, Cathal Ó hÉigeartaigh.
As an executive they will be responsible for representing students and providing information and advice on areas such as welfare, finance, accommodation.
The new SU President says that reducing student housing shortages will be his top priority for the next year
