Mayor of Galway says "incompetence" to blame for website controversy

The Mayor of Galway says "incompetence" is to blame for major website errors about her life and asylum timeline in Ireland.

Controversy erupted this week after a Daily Mail journalist and photographer doorstepped Councillor Helen Ogbu at her home over the inconsistencies.

Her personal website had stated she sought asylum in Ireland in 2006 after her husband Sunny was the victim of a political assassination in Nigeria - but he actually died in 2010.

Speaking to John Morley on Galway Talks today, Councillor Ogbu said she's always given straight forward, consistent interviews on her life and time in Ireland.

And she told him they've been aware of mistakes on the website for some time - but those responsible for the website failed to take action.
