The Aran Islands lifeboat has responded to 4 call-outs in a 24 hour period

They included two medical evacuations, a Mayday call and a missing vessel.

At 9.40 on Sunday morning the lifeboat launched from Cill Rónain Harbour and made its way to Inis Oírr where a patient was safely transferred to Ros an Mhíl to a waiting ambulance crew.

Later at 1.38pm the lifeboat, Rescue 115 and Costelloe Bay Coastguard responded to a Mayday issued by a small vessel that had lost power and was drifting towards a rocky shore.

However, the crew were stood down while on route as a passing vessel managed to assist the distressed vessel.

The third call of the day came at 10.44pm when the crew was tasked with finding a possible missing vessel between Inis Mór and Ros an Mhíl.

However, a call came through from a research vessel in the area to say that they had contacted the casualties who were in good spirits.

The lifeboat made its way to the vessel and escorted it to its destination before returning to base.
