A Ballinasloe teacher has been awarded the prestigious Drumcondra 150 Scholarship from Dublin City University.
Claire Gill, a primary school teacher from Scoil Mhuire Naofa in Menlough, is one of 7 teachers to be awarded the scholarship.
Claire's research, titled 'Maintaining a Momentum of Play', will investigate the use of play as a pedagogical approach to literacy in primary schools.
Claire has worked with Dyslexia Ireland as a tutor and as an Examiner with the School of Special Education at DCU.
The Drumcondra PhD scholarship marks 150 years of teacher education at St Patrick's Campus in Drumcondra.
