Call for cohesive plan for N59

Galway Bay fm newsroom - A Galway TD is calling for a cohesive plan to be put in place for road improvements along the N59.

Galway West TD Eamon O'Cuiv is calling on all relevant stakeholders to develop a strategy so work on different sections of the road can be completed in succession.

It comes as Galway county council has confirmed that work is being carried out on a planning application for road improvement works from Maam Cross to Clifden.

A previous application for this section was turned down by An Bord Pleanála a number of years ago on environmental grounds.

At present a project team is forensically analysing the failed application to strengthen the case for a new one.
