Call to review city busking regulations after one year period

Galway Bay fm newsroom - City officials are being urged to review busking bye-laws one year after they are implemented.

Minister of State and Galway East TD Ciaran Cannon has put forward the proposal in a bid to assess the impact of the regulations on Galway's artistic life.

The bye-laws were passed by the city council this week and will come into effect in January.

This will mean busking will be restricted during peak business hours and those in breach could face fines.

Meanwhile, Green party city councillor Pauline O'Reilly argues street acts are "essential to the diversity and vibrancy of Galway," and the laws are "old- fashioned and unenforceable."
